PAUL GILLING

Hello and welcome to my web page, which contains a selection of some of my photographs.  Originally from Southampton in southern England, I have been based in Edinburgh for the past 20 years - arriving here via Berlin, where I lived for 10 years.  

 

My chief interest as a photographer lies in photographing people.  Studio based photography is not my preferred way of working, however, as I feel I am unable to find the essence of a person set in front of a screen and caught in the glare of studio lighting!  I prefer to work together with someone wherever they may be and make use the ambient light available at the time.  I rarely, if ever, use flash.

I am chiefly a portrait photographer, but I have photographed numerous social occasions, including weddings, parties, children's parties etc.
